Minutes from House Corporation Meeting

Saturday, October 17th, 2008 @ 8:30am


Attendees: Ron Sitzer, Path Thibert, Jim Schnack, Jeff Blakely, Josh Swinnerton and Kevin Till (phone conference).


President (Jeff Blakely): 


LCA standing with UND

·         No longer on probation(had been for prior three years)


House Membership

·         The members are increasing looking good. 

·         Current active members: 7

·         Current associates: 10


Needed House Repairs

·         The upstairs’ bathroom urinal (closest to door) is not working.

·         The upstairs’ bathroom toilet (closest to door) is not working.

·         The kitchen’s stove left pilot light is not staying lite.

·         Emergency lights need to be repaired

·         Kitchen side outside combination lock needs to be fixed, can’t be reset to access.

·         Lawn mower is not working, Jeff will look into first and if need assistance will contact House Corp.


Pre-I week starts 11/17/2008

·         Thursday, November 20, 2008 will be the alumni dinner

·         Arriving last week of October

·         House needs to stay on top of outstanding balances and make sure all members are paying accordingly

Current rent $8,500/semester; $17,000/year

Total Expenses for year: $12,855.00

Current savings balance: $20,997.95

Current checking balance: $5,204.19

Fire Alarm Installation - $6,800.00

MCG Bank (formerly Beal Bank): $55,387.75 (4%-25yr)

United Valley Bank: $29,857.05 (7.25% - 5yr. Renew)


Current Upgrades to House

·         Built shed (10’x13’) – Paid for 2 years ago, needed wood foundation - $400

·         Repaired deck next to volleyball pit - $850

·         Installed Hard-Wired Fire Alarm system

·         Hardware - $6,300 (paid for)

·         Installation + additional expenses - $6,800 (outstanding)


Need more fund raising for needed repairs

·         Ron Sitzer will setup and write the letter

·         Jim Schnack will mail the letters


Possible live in advisor for Lambda Chi Alpha House

·         Must be a Graduate Student

·         Will re-visit next 10/01/2009

Active Member Notes


Are in need of hard-wired fire alarms

Estimated cost: $3,000 - $4,000

Recently purchased new refrigerators to replace the commercial refrigerators that were too costly to repair


Vice President Notes


Need hard-wired fire alarms to be compliant with Fire Marshall standards

Next house priority, upgrading both top and bottom bathrooms

Estimated cost: $15,000 per bathroom for a total approximate cost of $30,000

Ron Sitzer will send out a mailer asking for donations from the alumni

Ron Sitzer will look into reserving Sioux vs. St. Cloud hockey tickets for Saturday, March 3rd

Kevin Till and Jeff Blakely will coordinate the project

Jim Schnack, along with receiving ticket reservation money, will manage the LCA website by updating the site for other LCA alumni to view who has reserved tickets.

Do we still need flood insurance?

       Current cost $1200

       Ron Sitzer will contact Dave Hillesland and Duane Little John for recommendations

       Possible scenario:  Drop the insurance and wait for mid-winter forecast

       If we drop the flood insurance we will continue to allocate the money each year so that it is available. This year, if we do not take the

       flood insurance we will apply the money to the fire alarms.
